Carolinas Chapter

By Chuck Ketchie, President

The Carolinas Chapter is finishing up the Fall Newsletter. The Spring edition finished listing the North Carolina county road names with the word mill in them (over 1000). This newsletter acquainted us better with two of our members and their love for mills; Celia Miles & John Van Dalen. We also continue to find new friends helping us with our endeavors like Patricia Poland, Librarian of the History Room in Union County, NC and Caleb Smith, an Archeologist for the Department of Transportation in Raleigh, NC, who has provided us with reports of mill finds. The next newsletter pullout, convenient for a reference guide, will list the mills that are on the National Register of Historic Places in our two states. The pull out concept makes this information available for easy access.

Great Lakes Chapter

Yet, the partnership only works when mill owners widely distribute announcements. In 2008, Toledo Metroparks (Isaac Ludwig Mill) and the Rinkle family (Greenfield Mill) asked the Chapter to participate in their events.
