The conclusion of the Conference resulted in the following unified statement by the Conference stakeholders.
The Society for the Preservation of Old Mills, Northeast Chapter, and Northern Heritage Mills advocate for the preservation, usage, and support of water powered mill pond dams (and sites), and the ecological, cultural, and physical capital they represent and incorporate.
Further, the Society for the Preservation of Old Mills, Northeast Chapter, and Northern Heritage Mills encourage the generation of low impact hydro power as an appropriate use of old mill sites for the purpose of preservation, education, and enhancement of old mills and dams, and for the promotion of clean, renewable energy and for their environmental health and community benefits.
