Hanford Mills Museum (HMM) is the host site for the 2018 Society for the Preservation of Old Mills (SPOOM) conference. Time will be allocated for attendees to spend plenty of time exploring HMM’s water- and steam-powered site. The Mill complex includes a sawmill, gristmill, and woodworking shops all in one building. An operating mill site since 1846, for most of its commercial life Hanford Mills was owned and operated by the family of David Josiah Hanford, who purchased the mill in 1860. Your visit will feature demonstrations of historic mill machinery and the 1926 Fitz overshot waterwheel.
